A Hope on Two Wheels

Two years ago, I took an Ola bike to work, driven by a man in his 40s. I remember him sharing his story of living and working in Gujarat, prior to coming here in Bhubaneswar.

Unfortunately, he had fallen victim to a massive chit fund scam, losing💔 his entire life savings. The allure of quick wealth often draws people into these schemes and the promise of high returns fuels their investment in such funds.

Visualize the downfall of the chit fund scam with jagged, broken layers, using harsh reds and black, symbolizing the shattering of dreams and financial ruin.

With no other options, he returned to Odisha with his family and his children enrolled in schools in Bhubaneswar.

When he dropped me off, he gave me his number📱 and asked if I could help him find a clerical job, as he was seeking a stable source of income.

His words stayed with me, and occasionally, while scrolling through my WhatsApp contacts, I would come across his status updates. Eventually, though, I moved on.

Depict the moment the protagonist shares the bike driver’s contact with their colleague in risograph. Use greens and purples with bold contrast to highlight hope and the potential of this connection.

Fast forward to this week, nearly two years later, when a colleague from a different organization mentioned they were looking for someone to assist with office admin work.

At that moment, his name popped 💡into my mind! I shared his contact details, and after a conversation, he was invited to visit the office the very next day.

Since both of our offices are on the same floor, I stepped outside to chat with him. He greeted me with a gesture of Namaste🙏, but I stopped him and offered a🤝 handshake, mindful of his age.

We spoke for about 5-10 minutes, and I felt humbled when he expressed his gratitude to the Lord Jagannath. 🙌

I, too, was amazed at how things had unfolded😮! He still remembered dropping me off on the opposite side of the road from our office. These days, he’s doing some retail supply work alongside occasional Ola bike rides.

Unfortunately, due to the demanding nature of the role he interviewed for, he wasn’t shortlisted.

Use a dual-layered risograph print: one half of the MAN’s face in dark, grainy reds and blacks to express the loss of the opportunity, while the other half is in vibrant cyan and orange, showing his inner optimism. The layers should appear slightly misaligned to evoke a sense of emotional tension and contrast.

Still, I managed to reconnect with him and hope for opportunities for us to collaborate in the 🤞future.

Did I have any role or reason to take credit? Absolutely not! 🚫

I played no part in orchestrating this. It was the universe 🌌that put the right thought in my mind.

A risograph-styled road leading into the horizon, symbolizing new opportunities. Use light pastel tones like peach and light blue, layering textures to convey uncertainty yet promise.

After all, how else would I remember someone I met for just 15 minutes, long ago, while scrolling through a large list of contacts!

I sincerely hope he finds better opportunities in the future!🌟
